NetEase

Chinese Internet portal, recently announced new wireless strategies
for China. The company officially launched its WAP website (wap.163.com)
which has received positive feedback from users since its trial

Unicom to create a new WAP web site for its mobile users. NetEase
is also teaming up with major mobile phone manufacturers Motorola,
Siemens and Ericsson to offer WAP-based contents to customers
of Chinese mobile operators, including China Mobile. The alliances
between NetEase
and its new wireless communication partners promise to accelerate
the growth of the WAP market in China and bring significant
benefits to future WAP users. |

NetEase
launched its WAP website in March 2000. The website, boasting
the richest WAP content in China, features 13 channels offering
information and services such as news, e-mail, stock quotes,
flight schedules, weather, travel, movie listings, and other
valuable information. Its news channel covers 14 categories,

computers, science, finance, culture, games, real estate, women's
issues, health, career and education. The rich WAP-enabled content
is easily accessible by WAP phones from such leading brands
as Motorola, Siemens, Ericsson and Nokia. |

According to an International Data Corporation
(IDC) report, the number of global Internet users currently
stands at 150 million and it will increase to 500 million
