NetEase
Forms Strategic Partnership with CITIC Industrial Bank to Develop
Online Banking and E-Commerce |
|
|
 |
|
|
Beijing, August 30, 2000 |
 |
|
NetEase.com,
Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES), a leading Internet technology company
based in China, announced today that it has entered into a strategic
partnership with CITIC Industrial Bank, one of the fastest developing
commercial banks in China. Based on this new agreement, NetEase
and CITIC Industrial Bank agree to pool and integrate their
respective expertise and resources to design CITIC Industrial
Bank's corporate Web site and to develop and promote online
banking, online payment, bank credit cards and corporate financial
services. Both parties agree that their partnership goes far
beyond the conventional "Banking plus Internet" format and that
it will establish more comprehensive services for their respective
end users. |
 |
|
The NetEase
Web Site is one of the largest Internet portals in China and
an obvious selection to partner with one of China's largest
financial institutions. NetEase
will utilize its Internet expertise to launch CITIC Industrial
Bank's broad suite of banking services to the Internet including
implementing an online exhibition platform that can be used
to promote CITIC Industrial Bank's financial services. NetEase
will also provide CITIC Industrial Bank with technical design
support, site construction, content organization and daily maintenance
to create and expand CITIC Industrial Bank's corporate Web site. |
 |
 |
William Ding, Co-Chief Technology Officer
and founder of NetEase,
commented, "The Internet industry is constantly changing and
filled with intense competition. An Internet company must relentlessly
seek to cooperate with companies in other areas of commerce
in order to secure its competitive position and role of leadership.
When developing e-commerce services, such cooperation becomes
even more crucial because e-commerce grows from the mergers
between Internet technologies and conventional industries. Our
partner, CITIC Industrial Bank, has extensive financial experience
as a first-rate commercial bank, while NetEase
has an in depth understanding of the Internet and China's on-line
user base. It is a natural match for the two of us to combine
our capabilities and lead the way in accelerating the accessibility
of Internet-based banking and financial services to customers
in China." |
 |
 |
CITIC Industrial Bank is one of the largest
and fastest developing commercial banks in China. "CITIC Industrial
Bank will provide NetEase
with the resources and know-how to expand and improve its capacity
to facilitate commercial transactions online. Our wide range
of transactional support can be most beneficial to NetEase
in the areas of online payment, online personal financing and
online banking." said Mr. Yao Dingyi, Vice President of CITIC
Industrial Bank. "We have great confidence in the success of
our cooperation with NetEase.
Our alliance will play a significant role in the development
of e-commerce in China. " |
