The Board           Lawrence Smith was appointed Chief Operating Officer of News Corporation China in October 2000. He holds concurrently the position of Executive Vice President of STAR. Mr Smith has headed the News Corporation Representative Office in Beijing since its establishment in March 1999. Prior to this, he was responsible for business development and government relations in China for News Corporation and a number of its operating subsidiaries. Mr. Smith has served as our director since October 2000.
