Mr. Lai joined NetEase
as Chief Executive Officer in March 2000. For eight years, Mr.
Lai worked in Asia as CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising.
He also acted as the regional director of both the Taiwan and
China offices. As a result of his professional experience, Mr.
Lai has extensive knowledge in marketing and a high-level of
management expertise. |

Under Mr. Lai's leadership, Saatchi & Saatchi
Advertising in the Asia region experienced rapid growth. The
company was responsible for developing and leading advertising
and marketing initiatives for many international corporations
including Procter & Gamble, Volvo, Citibank, etc. Mr. Lai's
outstanding management abilities and visionary capacity was
instrumental in securing Saatchi & Saatchi's position as the
largest agency in China during the past five years. |

Earlier in his career Mr. Lai founded The
Marketing Partnership in New York City in November 1987. As
chief executive of the company, he was responsible for offering
integrated marketing solutions and implementing services for
key clients including Bally of Switzerland Retail, Emery Design,
and Jim Hensen Productions. Prior to this, Mr. Lai acted as
Vice President and Director of Market Development at Shearson
Lehman Brothers, New York City and Account Executive at New
York's BBDO Company. |

Mr. Lai studied at the University of Pennsylvania
in the U.S. where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in
English Literature and Economics. |
